Yom HaShoah, Holocaust Remembrance Day, is held each spring on the anniversary of the Warsaw Ghetto uprising. It is a day, which both memorializes the victims of the Holocaust and pays tribute to their bravery. In Israel, the holiday is marked by a profound two-minute, nationwide moment of silence. Outside of Israel, commemoration is minimal.

Illuminate was created to educate and elevate awareness and commemoration of the Holocaust by combining the significance of Yom HaShoah with the reach of web technology and social media.

Through the use of a simple, modern and meaningful candle lighting ritual, Illuminate is building a global network of caring individuals, communities and institutions all focused on honoring the memory of the victims of the Holocaust.

Illuminate is also a place to create and share personalized rituals and expressions of memory and to reflect upon our collective obligation to create a more compassionate, interconnected and caring future.

Our desire is to grow a community of over Six Million users so that each year on Yom HaShoah, one living person remembers and honors each victim of the Holocaust.

Please register and share Illuminate widely so we can reach this goal together.

The Illuminate Foundation is a registered non profit 501c3 organization which created the Illuminate website and initiative. Illuminate is not affiliated with any movement, ideology, or religious institution.
